Who’s in Control of Your Holiday Season? Learn More About Entrepreneurship this Week with 3 Events

It’s that time of year where it may feel like you have to be in three places at once.  Whether it’s Christmas shopping, holiday parties and trying to finish up the year at work on a high note, time is a precious commodity in the month of December.

Does it seem like December is becoming more and more controlled by your job?  Since Corporate America is requiring you to do more and meet that end of year budget, do you feel like you are losing control?

The LA Times reported these characteristics from a study of 1,000 US Workers:

  • 80% of Americans still work when outside the office, putting in an average of eight hours in each week.
  • The average worker starts checking emails in bed at 7:09am.
  • By 8am, seven in ten workers have gone through their messages.
  • After 10pm, 40% of workers are still checking their email.  Seven in ten says it’s a necessary step before going to bed.
  • More than half of Americans keep tabs on their emails at family outings.
  • 38% of Americans check email at the dinner table.

What if you can take that control back?

You can be the boss and control your Decembers (as well as the rest of the calendar year)!  Entrepreneurship is a way that you can create your own career and create an investment in the future.  Entrepreneurship puts the control in your hands!

You have the control to take part in one of three different events this week.  On Tuesday, 12/17 in Grand Rapids, join me for “Franchising as a Career, an Investment or Both.”  On Wednesday, 12/18, join me for “Business Ownership Options” which looks at different types of business ownership including franchising.  On Thursday, 12/19, join me for “Business Ownership Options for African Americans.”  All you have to do is head over to frannet.com/bbetser for more information and to sign up today!

Have questions?  You can contact me at 616-891-1374 or bbetser@frannet.com.  Please note, all of my services, consultations, and events are FREE to you!

Why Wait Until January 1st to Get a Fresh Start?

It’s that time of year!  With Christmas fast approaching, then the New Year, it will be 2014 before you know it.  It also means it is time for articles about getting on track in the New Year!  They come earlier every year, don’t they.

So, why wait until an arbitrary date to change your life?

If you’ve ever thought about starting your own business, I want to invite you to my FREE webinar “Business Ownership Options.”  There are many reasons to start a business.  Franchising is one of the ways to achieve your goals, whatever those goals could be:

  • Following a passion.
  • Getting out of unemployment, underemployment, or the wrong employment.
  • Gaining financial independence.
  • Supplementing income to help achieve your children’s college education, retirement, or other financial goals.
  • Being your own boss.
  • Starting your “encore career” as a way to keep busy during retirement.
  • Owning a business as a layer of security and financial protection, while keeping the safety of your current job.

The webinar is on December 18th at 2pm.  All you have to do is turn on your computer and surf over to frannet.com/bbetser.

Giving Thanks for Work-Life Balance

Have you heard horror stories about corporate workers bringing their work home with them, not having a family life? What about owners putting in 100 hour weeks to get their business up and running?

With more and more retail shops opening up on Thanksgiving, some hourly workers are even losing a bit of their work-life balance?

So, how can franchising restore a work life balance?

  • The systems are already in place: The beautiful thing about a franchised concept is that the systems are already in place. Other franchise owners of the same concept have been successful using the same systems, and you can literally take pages out of their playbook to use in your market. You may also benefit from an overall corporate marketing strategy that will drive business to your front door. Don’t lose your valuable time working and fretting about trying to re-invent the wheel.
  • Different ownership models: Owning a business doesn’t have to mean working it “Full-time”. The semi-absentee ownership models allowed by some franchise concepts allows the owner to work approximately 20 hours per week. Knowing this in advance can help you control your schedule and work life balance, rather than feeling out of control.
FranNet is here to teach you more about franchising, and how you can maintain the work-life balance you want. If you’re feeling like you’re sacrificing your family life for your work, it might be time to learn more.

If you’re ready to explore opportunities that will provide work-life balance, visit frannet.com/bbetser. The site will tell you about all of my FREE services, including webinars and events. You can also contact me at 616-891-1374 or bbetser@frannet.com.

Giving Thanks for a Support System

Being an entrepreneur can be tough. But those that took the jump into business ownership through franchising have thanks to give for the support systems that make it a little easier to deal with those ups and downs business owners experience.

With franchising, franchise owners have access to two key components of a support system:
  1. A Franchise Family – The minute you launch your new franchise, you have access to a franchise family – a group of individuals that have been in your shoes before, and know what its like to start up a franchise in your specific brand. Not only that, but they all share a vested interest in helping THE BRAND succeed.

  2. Franchise Support Team – Remember, as you do well, your company does well. That’s why you’ll find dedicated members of the corporate franchise team assisting with your ongoing support needs. And, since most franchise models require a royalty fee go back to the main company, this seems pretty obvious – it’s one of those services you get as a franchisee in return for your royalty payments.
And don’t forget about FranNet! Because we’re a local based franchise consulting firm, you’ll have the support of our network as you launch your new business too! Whether you’re looking for real estate, need a cleaning company or handyman, or even are looking for office furniture, FranNet can help.

If the aforementioned sound like a great ways to be in business but you aren’t sure how to find a franchise that is best for you, consider contacting FranNet. We are here to help match you up with franchised concepts to research that fit your lifestyle and goals. And keep in mind; all of our consultations, seminars and events are FREE to you!

Don't miss my free seminar, "Franchising as a Career, an Investment, or Both," TOMORROW in Grand Rapids!  To learn more and to RSVP, please visit frannet.com/bbetser.  You can also contact me at bbetser@frannet.com or 616-891-1374.

Starting Up a Business? GIVE THANKS for Someone Else's Idea!

One of the hardest parts of starting your own business is coming up with that million-dollar idea. Has someone else already tried your idea? What if you miscalculated this, or underestimated that? What if your idea fails?

That's one of the reasons for entrepreneurs to give thanks for franchises. Now, keep in mind, you are paying to use someone's idea... But you are also reducing your risk. Whether it's a restaurant, accounting firm, dry cleaners or anything you can think of - the franchised brand shows a track record of success.

Success isn't a guarantee though, there’s still a lot of work to do! But why not take advantage of all the franchise has to offer to help position you for that success?

For more information about franchising, I am putting on a free workshop on November 19th in Grand Rapids, MI entitled "Franchising as a Career, an Investment, or Both," we will examine the pros and cons of various different business ownership options while taking a deep dive into franchising. For more information and to register, please visit frannet.com/bbetser or call 616-891-1374. You can also email me at bbetser@frannet.com.

Just a reminder, ALL of my services, workshops, webinars and seminars are free to you!

I recently was interviewed by WOTV and WZZM about "Encore Careers," those careers that you start in the second-half of life.  Take a click on the video above to learn more about Encore Careers, including comments from Dan Hendon.  Dan worked in the automotive industry, saw one of my posts on LinkedIn, came to one of my seminars, and has started Zounds West Michigan who helps to provides hearing aids (with noise cancellation and feedback control) at one-third to one-half the cost of the competition.

Does Dan's story sound like something you could do?  I invite you to attend "Michigan Franchise Forum: Meet the Franchisors Expanding in West Michigan."  The event is 100% free, and will be held from 3:00pm to 5:30pm at Northwood University in Grand Rapids.  Seating is limited, so you must register at frannet.com/bbetser.

"Plan A, Plan B, Plan Z and Plan F-Squared …"

When it comes to careers, most Americans have pursued Plan A. Plan A is that “steady” job with reliable income and benefits. Working “40” hours a week, coming home and eating dinner with your spouse and children (unless you’re a Road Warrior). Plan B is the fallback career. With the recession changing the economic face of the country over the past few years, maybe you were forced into a Plan B. Maybe Plan B is a lower-paying job a few steps back. Maybe Plan B is doing some on-the-side consulting until the next Plan A job comes around.

Just a few weeks ago, Deroit Free Press Business Columnist, Josh Linkner, introduced us to Plan Z. It may stand for Zoom, Zap, or Zig Zag. In essence, it’s the dream plan. What would you do if you could do whatever you wanted? How could you make the biggest impact on the world? What would you want to be remembered for? According to Linkner, this could be “the plan that you had in mind before you learned all the things that could go wrong. The plan that you’d pursue if you knew you couldn’t fail. Plan Z is your Road Map for things going INCREDIBLY RIGHT instead of horribly wrong.”

Sounds perfect, doesn’t it?

So, how do you get there? This is where Plan F–Squared comes in … the first F stands for FranNet. Let me show you how to get from point A or point B to point Z. There are franchise concepts in a vast array of fields, and for almost every type of personality imaginable.

The second F in Plan F-Squared stands for free. All of my services, consultation, seminars, webinars and experience are yours for free. No catch.

A great place to start the “journey to Z” is at Michigan Franchise Forum, Meet the Franchisors Expanding in West Michigan.  These franchisors will speak on their different business models and how they can work for you. Tips on franchise due diligence will also be presented, and a franchise financing expert will discuss your funding options.

This showcase is on October 8 in Grand Rapids, MI. Visit www.michiganfrachiseforum.com for more information and to RSVP. Contact me at bbetser@frannet.com or 616-891-1374 for more information.

Save the Batteries, Start a Business, Save the World!

Take a look in your household, count how many battery-operated devices are in your house. Anything that you can put a battery into, don’t count your iPhone.

The average U.S. Household has 21 different battery operated devices. Fire alarms, remote controls, clocks, garage door openers, and children’s toys are just a few of these items. The battery market in North America is a 24 BILLION dollar industry, annually increasing 6-10%.

Have you considered starting a business, and wondered what type of business to start? What about one that can put a CHARGE into saving the environment? We all know that batteries, once done, can either end up being recycled or being put in a landfill.

Battery recycling is also an additional revenue stream for franchisees. A great example is Battery Giant, who recycled over 2 million pounds of batteries in 2012.

Join Battery Giant and FranNet of West Michigan as they go over their franchising and recycling opportunities on September 11, 2013. Registration is required, and light hors d’oeuvres will be served. For more information, please contact me at bbetser@frannet.com or 616-891-1374. Help save the batteries, start a business, and save the world!

Some Facts About Our Greatest Generation, and How You Can Give Back

In May of 2013, US Today published their yearly Senior Citizens Health Care Report. This report touched on the aging “baby boomer” population, as well as current trends.

Here are some of the stats:
  • Currently, 1 in 8 Americans are 65 years of age or older. (Appx. 40.3 million)
  • In 2030, 1 in 5 Americans will be age 65 years of age or older. (Appx. 72.1 million)
  • According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
    • Nearly 8 in 10 seniors are living with at least one chronic health condition
    • 50% have 2 or more
    • 25% of seniors are obese (30% in Michigan)
    • 20% have been diagnosed with diabetes
    • More than 70% have heart disease
    • Nearly 60% have arthritis
  • Adults 65 and older spend nearly twice as much as those 45 to 64 on health care each year. If you consider the entire adult population, seniors spend three to five times as much on health care than those 18-64.
What if you could give back to this generation? What if, at the same time, you could start a profitable business?

Senior care franchises are available to provide much needed assistance to seniors. They employ caregivers to provide assistance at home – whether it’s nutritious meal preparation, assistance with hygiene and grooming, or support with activities that maximize independence. They can also provide services to those in varying stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia, helping families to keep their loved ones independent, but still providing that bit of assistance with some activities of daily living.

On Wednesday, August 21, join me for a FREE online webinar that discusses one of these senior care franchises in depth. Learn more about the growing marketplace, business opportunities, and the demand for senior care assistance. Owners are NOT required to have a medical background. Can you MANUFACTURE Success as a Business Owner?

The light manufacturing category of business is very broad, but each business has one thing in common – you are making what you sell.

Since it’s light manufacturing, that typically means you are in an environment with no loud noises, no noxious odors, no dangerous chemicals and no dangerous equipment. You’re making something out of raw materials – something truly unique and something to be proud of. The work day usually consists of typical business hours, and if you’re good – you’ll have repeat customers that generate 80% of your business.

If you have any questions about how you can manufacture success as a business owner, or any questions about franchising, please contact me at 616-891-1374 or bbetser@frannet.com.

June 26, 2013 // Franchising.com // WESTON, FL – JuiceBlendz, the popular South Florida-based  franchise, is pleased to announce national expansion plans with its first Michigan location scheduled to open later this summer.
According to Adam Ogden, founder and CEO of JuiceBlendz, “We are thrilled to grow our franchise in a completely new market. Since opening our first site in 2005, we have grown exponentially in the South Florida market. An aggressive national franchise plan has always been part of the company’s growth strategy. We are pleased to have expanded our presence in Florida, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and now Michigan.”
JuiceBlendz International, which operates the JuiceBlendz and YoBlendz franchises, has experienced great success with both traditional and non-traditional locations such as those within stadiums/arenas, college campuses, high schools and convenience stores.

And, with continued growth comes employment opportunities. The door is certainly open for dedicated individuals in Michigan who want to be a part of our growing team, which is a rare opportunity in today’s job market.”
Franchisees TJ and Dana Mettler found the JuiceBlendz franchise through working with Brigitte Betser of FranNet of Michigan. We are pleased to become the newest franchisee of the JuiceBlendz brand,” stated TJ Mettler. The couple plans to hire a minimum of 15 employees, and is preparing their Downtown Grand Rapids location (15 Ionia Ave. SW, Suite 100) for a grand opening in August.

The American Dream Isn’t Dead …

That’s right, the American dream isn’t dead!  In fact, it's very much alive! The unemployment rate for June 2013 was a half-percentage better than June 2012.  Just over the month, 175,000 positions were created. It's been slowly improving from the recent record low of 10.2 percent in October 2009.

But, if you're exploring business ownership just because of these reports, beware! Its important to explore those businesses that have the ability to thrive in all economic conditions - both good and bad.

The question is how to do that! This is just one of the topics we cover in our upcoming seminar called “Franchising as a Career, an Investment, or Both!” This event is FREE, and will take place on June 25 in Grand Rapids, MI. For more information, please visit frannet.com/bbetser, email bbetser@frannet.com or call 616-891-1374.

Is There a Way to Create an Investment AND Help Your Child Start Their Professional Career?

With a lot of students having just completed their college courses, earning their diploma and starting their search for the real world - this article may definitely resonate with some readers. If this article seems to resonate with you, your family and financial statement, I definitely recommend that you attend one of my two upcoming ABSOLUTELY FREE seminars about franchising.  "Business Ownership Options" will help tell you more about three different business ownership options while taking a deep dive into the world of franchising..  These will take place on Tuesday, May 21 (Kalamazoo) and Tuesday, June 25 (Grand Rapids).  For more info, and to RSVP, please visit frannet.com/bbetser.

-----
It’s tough watching as your child sits by looking to enter the real world, fighting a tough job market. Stats show that it takes an average of 8 months for recent college graduates to find a job.  Approximately 22 million young adults are living with their parents (Source:  SmartMoney). Terms like fiscal cliff and debt ceiling probably add a bit of doubt to whether your child will still be waiting tables, or enter into a professional career with a steady paycheck. At the same time, you may be wondering about your stocks and 401(k).  Is there a better investment that isn’t as dependent on Wall Street?

Franchising can give you a solution to both of your problems.
Starting a franchise is truly an investment in yourself and your family, backed by a proven business system.

Getting your child involved.
Will there be another manager that you can trust more so than one you know intimately?  If you truly believe that your child can succeed, and they just need a chance, why not give it to them?  Get your child involved early in the process, including doing the research on the available franchises – they will become further vested in the process and feel like a true managing partner.  At the same time, you can help mold and guide them as an early manager.  You may have some disagreements about how to run the business, but you will know how to work with your child (compared to a unrelated person).

Real-life stories from the COLLEGE campus.
Many colleges and universities are beginning to recognize the important role that entrepreneurism may very well play in their students NEAR future. Many students are starting to take entrepreneurship classes and learning about how they can take things into their own hands. Emphasis is placed on recognizing and evaluating opportunities for franchise entrepreneurs, the development of appropriate strategies and plans, and the implementation and launch of a new franchise. One instructor from Saginaw Valley State University, Andrew Anderson, MBA, tells us that FOUR of his students have gone on to open franchises in the past couple years, upon graduation. You can learn more about the college’s unique curriculum at www.svsu.edu/cbm.

A better investment.
Can owning a franchise(and believing in your family) be a better investment tool than stocks? Now, every situation is different, and some can do better than others in the stock market.  But look at the results from 2012.

               - Dow Jones Industrial Average: +0.13%
               - NASDAQ: 0.12%
·             - S&P 500:  -0.00%  (barely down)

Pretty flat!  Do your research, team up with FranNet, and make an investment in your future (and your child’s future!)

USE FRANNET
FranNet exists to start you on the road to success through FREE consulting services.  I am here to meet with you, talk about your goals and aspirations, and see if franchising is right for you and your family. There may be one or more options that fit your criteria, and the skills and personality of your son or daughter. I can help you and your family investigate the perfect franchise concepts that may prove to be a great match for you.  Give me a call at616-891-1374 or email me at bbetser@frannet.com, and let’s have a conversation about how franchising can give you a better investment vehicle, and help your child start their professional career!

So, Why Should I Pay a Franchise Fee When I Could Just Start My Own Business?

This is a common question when people first think about franchising. The franchise fee may be daunting at first blush. However, when you break down the components and what you'll be receiving, that fee may make a lot more sense.

What are you getting from the franchise fee?

·     The Brand: Most franchised brands have a proven success record and a built-in identity. Just think of the time and cost that would be required trying to find the right logo, develop radio and TV commercials, and design other marketing pieces on your own. What are the true odds that your marketing would work?

·      Systems and Operations: Do you know the steps needed to launch and operate your business efficiently? Do you know the steps to make your business effective? With a franchise, you have vast resources and an operating plan to follow, as well as “sister” franchise owners that can help provide best practices.

·     Computer Systems:  Franchises may have computer engineers that develop specific computer systems that maximize efficiency and front-of-house speed.  Hand in hand with operations – the computer system may assist with inventory, sales reporting, cash handling, labor scheduling and more.

If you BUILD it, they will come (again and again) …

Join me for LIGHT MANUFACTURING DISCOVERY DAY on Monday, May 6th from 12 pm to 2 pm in Troy, MI (lunch is provided). Learn about a light manufacturing business-to-business opportunity.  This concept leverages your marketing, sales and management skills on a traditional Monday-Friday schedule.

Our economy has for generations been fueled by manufacturing, both heavy and light.  Light manufacturing is an environment with no loud noises, no noxious odors, no dangerous chemicals, and no dangerous equipment.  Much of the light manufacturing over the years has gone overseas due to economics. Some manufacturing remains here due to different factors including; technology, unique raw materials, the need to be close to the customer, or the custom nature of small run production.

Some people have the desire to make a product from raw materials.  They like the process involved in manufacturing.  They like the tangible results of what they have made.  They like the single location nature of the industry, the regular hours it operates, the project scheduling, the potential to someday purchase their own building adding to their retirement investments and they understand the high resale value of a manufacturing business.

Picture yourself running a manufacturing business where your staff makes a product from raw materials.

It’s custom production. Every project is different; every day is different. You will see tangible, visible results of your efforts driving home.

It’s close to home, in a low overhead, business park location, operating Monday-Friday, 9-5 (no nights, no weekends and no holidays) with a small staff of career employees. Your business will offer recession-resistant products that every business needs, and about 80% of sales are traditionally generated from 30-50 corporate accounts.

The Top 10 Reasons You Should MEET THE FRANCHISORS

FranNet of West Michigan, Buy Michigan Now, and SCORE present "Meet the Franchisors - West Michigan Franchise Forum."  This is your chance to learn more about Michigan-based Franchisors poised for expansion in West Michigan.  Here’s my top 10 reasons why should you attend this event.

10.  LEARN ABOUT FRANCHISING - Franchising is a highly viable method of entrepreneurship that leverages another business concept (for a fee), giving you a chance to make money off of another's successful idea, brand and practices.  There is always risk when starting a business, but wouldn’t it be great if you could have access to an opportunity that’s already had proven success?

9.  LEARN ABOUT OPPORTUNITIES THAT YOU MAY HAVE NEVER CONSIDERED - There may be a McDonald's and Starbucks on every corner, but maybe there is a need in your area for tax services, oil changes, or a hair salon?  There are many different types of franchises out there, and Meet the Franchisors (along with FranNet) can help you discover a franchise concept that fits your expertise, schedule, and initial investment.

8.  TASTY SNACKS – Cookies and Coffee provided!  Yes, that’s right! We’ll get you through that afternoon “lull” with caffeine and sugar at the event.   Don’t get too excited, its nothing fancy, by enough to get you through that afternoon lull and keep your stomach from growling!

7.  TALK TO FRANCHISE REPRESENTATIVES ONE-ON- ONE -  Each representative will discuss their business and answer questions about ownership in a group setting.  After that, you will be able to talk directly to those representatives.

6.  LEARN MORE ABOUT MICHIGAN - We won't talk about former senators or how the Mackinac Bridge was constructed, but you will learn more about which opportunities are available in specific areas in Michigan.  Franchising allows you to purchase exclusive rights to an area, so come to "Meet the Franchisors" to learn more about what opportunities are available in your backyard.

5.  LEARN ABOUT YOUR POTENTIAL - It may seem difficult to start a business, let alone come up with the initial investment to start the business.  People are starting franchises all of the time, and you can ask the questions about success stories and learn if you can truly start a business.

4.  LEARN ABOUT THE FINANCES - Franchise representatives, a franchise financing expert and FranNet counselors will be there to tell you more about financing a franchise and teach you how franchising can truly become a great investment.

3.  LEARN ABOUT FRANCHISING AS A CAREER - This can be your job.  Being your own boss can have its rewards, and you can learn how successful franchise operators can find the right management and employees to take you along the road to success.

2.  LEARN ABOUT AVAILABLE RESOURCES - Not only are the professionals from FranNet available to help you, so are fellow franchise business owners and area developers.  FranNet offers free consulting and services to help guide you into owning a business.  The franchise's fellow business owners and area developers also want to help!  Everyone under the franchise umbrella is truly a team - as your success helps them to be successful.

1.  LEARN ABOUT YOU - After all of the discussion and questions, you'll learn about you.  Think you can do it?  You'll have access to a wealth of knowledge and options, help and resources.  The next step is all about you.  Does that little voice inside your head want to know more and find out if you truly can do it? ... then all you have to do is take that next step – attend the event to learn more about how FranNet can help!

Are you ready for this great chance to learn more about the potential of franchising?  Meet the Franchisors – Michigan Franchise Forum takes place on 3/21 at 2:00pm in Grand Rapids, MI.  For more information, please visit michiganfranchiseforum.com or contact me at 616-891-1374 or bbetser@frannet.com.

MICHIGAN NEEDS YOU!

How can you change lives, support the economy, fulfill needs of many and give yourself every possible advantage to make a great income? It doesn’t take a miracle or a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity … Franchising can allow you the chance to make a difference right here in the great State of Michigan!

CHANGE LIVES
There are several franchising business models out there that require you to surround yourself with a great staff. Having a model like this gives you the opportunity to be part of the job creation movement. But it doesn’t stop just with employment – As a job creator, you support the families of your employees, and create a positive environment for ongoing development and success. From the teenager who is getting their first job as a retail clerk, or the hairstylist looking for a flexible schedule or the experienced operations manager, there is a lot of talent in our great State that you can access to help in your business.

FULFILL NEEDS
There are several components to running a successful business. One is finding a market with a need being unfulfilled, or fulfilling a need in a better, more efficient way. Do you know of a need in your hometown? Maybe it’s something as simple as a hair salon catering to men and boys? Or maybe it’s being able to find that unique battery not carried at the local hardware store? Or maybe it’s providing the much needed help to your elderly neighbor? Whatever it may be, Franchising can be an easy way to fulfill needs without having to have your own million-dollar idea.

GIVE YOURSELF THE ADVANTAGE
Franchising is a great way to become a business owner while reducing risk and giving you an advantage through the leveraging of an already-existing and successful business concept. Benefits are numerous: from a familiar brand name, ongoing training and support, a group of other owners to network with and more. The systems are in place and you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Will you take advantage of the opportunity franchising provides?

WHY MICHIGAN
Michigan is ripe with franchisors looking to expand in Michigan. Buy Michigan Now, SCORE Grand Rapids and FranNet of West Michigan have teamed up to present “Meet the Franchisors – West Michigan Franchise Forum” on 3/21 in Grand Rapids. Listen to presentations from franchisors based in Michigan, poised for expansion in St. Joseph, Benton Harbor, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, the Lakeshore, Lansing and even Traverse City. Meet with representatives 1-on-1, gain access to funding options and other small business start-up resources.

Is it Time for an ENCORE?

The Oscars highlighted an array of musical acts last night, with many performers receiving standing ovations. Jennifer Hudson, Shirley Bassey and the cast of Les Miserables gave memorable performances that left the crowd wanting more.

Now, is it time for your encore?

A new trend is sweeping the business world, known as “encore entrepreneurship.” Picture this, doing what you love and giving back to the community – definitely worthy of a standing ovation.

According to a Kaufman Foundation study, the age group that saw the most entrepreneurial activity from 1996 to 2010 was those in the 55-64 year old bracket.  These entrepreneurs have been through the corporate world once before, and now are back for more!  This time, focusing on a true passion and even donating a little bit to charity, which helps to keep them pushing to make a difference.
FranNet is here to help you find what you are passionate about – providing free consulting services to make a great match.  Are you more comfortable around numbers and spreadsheets?  Do you thrive on delighting customers with exceptional service? Do like the idea of providing our senior community with a more comfortable and safe home environment? Are you a car nut and want to help keep everyone’s vehicle in running order?  We can help match you with franchisors that are expanding in Michigan, and are looking for your particular transferable skills and passions!

Want to learn more about where you might fit?  On Wednesday, March 20 at 3pm, don’t miss your opportunity to "Meet the Franchisors Expanding in Michigan" at the Michigan Franchise Forum. This is your free chance to learn more about the franchise selection process and to hear from a variety of MICHIGAN-based franchisors that are still expanding in our great state.  Learn about their business concept, and ask them questions 1-on-1.  You might find something you truly could see yourself doing as your ENCORE!

For more information, please visit michiganfranchiseforum.com or contact me at 616-891-1374 or bbetser@frannet.com.

Your Million Dollar Idea Could Be Somebody Else’s

Everyone is searching for a million dollar idea.  It’s interwoven in the fabric of the American Dream, where the goal is to be as successful as you want to be.

Let’s be honest – there are only so many ideas that are going to hit “the big time.”  Many people have tried, and many people have failed. So, what if you could capitalize on an already successful business idea?

That’s the beauty of franchising!  You actually have the opportunity to achieve success from a proven, time-test business model that has predictable future results.  Franchising provides a very transparent due diligence process with the franchisor and existing franchisees.  The franchisor WANTS YOU TO SUCCEED – because they will succeed as well!

As part of the research, you’ll have the opportunity to ask a lot of questions about all aspects of franchise ownership within that particular system. You’ll be able to glean insight on both the successes, and failures of franchisees with similar backgrounds and market locations.  You’ll also be able to gain information on the support of the Franchisor, investment level, and your potential return on investment.

One of the biggest advantages to franchising is that you’re buying the tested operating model of the franchisor.  When you open your business on Day 1, you’ll be equipped with a system and process to apply to the operations of the business, including marketing and management.

Franchising, however, is not for everyone!   Because there are over 3000 different franchises to choose from, finding the right fit may be cumbersome.  In addition, some don’t find value in the payment of an initial franchise fee and on-going royalties.   Here at FranNet, we can assist you in recognizing the advantages and disadvantages of franchising, as well as finding the right fit.

If you want to learn more, feel free to contact us directly for discussion, or attend one of our upcoming events giving you the opportunity to hear from actual Franchisors. Join me in Grand Rapids on March 21st at 2pm for “Meet the Franchisors – West Michigan Franchise Forum,” a free, no-obligation seminar that puts you in the same room as Michigan Based Franchisors that have availability in West Michigan. Presented along with Buy Michigan Now!, you’ll get to learn more about specific franchise concepts, funding, operating systems and more that will get your entrepreneurial juices flowing!  For more information, please visit michiganfranchiseforum.com.  You can also contact me with any questions at 616-891-1374 or bbetser@frannet.com.
